THE launch of the Launceston Street Pastors Initiative took place at the Eagle House Hotel, Launceston, on Monday (March 11) and was endorsed by the local authorities, writes Natalie Venning.
A good turn out of members of the public, potential volunteers, police officers and local councillors filled the seats set out for the launch.
Street Pastors were set up around 11 years ago in Britain by the Ascension Trust, with initiatives being set up in towns across the nation. The Bude Street Pastors have been active for three years, with positive results for the area.
The initiative is made up of volunteers from the Christian faith, who have "a real care for people in their society".
