CHILDREN and helpers from Stratton Playgroup held a fundraising event in aid of Stratton League of Friends recently. They paid £1 to wear fancy dress to school, dressing up as patients, doctors and nurses. Cakes made by members of the committee were sold and a special visit was received from district nurse Michelle Quartermain. She showed children her stethoscope, taught them how to bandage and gave an interesting talk about how the money raised would be spent at the new Stratton Hospital. A grand total of £60 was raised by the playgroup and during the afternoon children took part in a role play. Sarah Jennings, chair of the committee, said: "They loved it, it was good fun and nice to support something local." They playgroup is now looking ahead to its open day in the summer.
