A STRATTON man was fined and his driving licence endorsed after he pleased guilty to an incident of driving without due care and attention.

Paul Alan Gliddon, aged 34 of St Martins Road, Stratton, appeared at Bodmin Magistrates' Court on January 21.

The court heard that on November 13, 2010, Mr Gliddon drove a Yamaha motorcycle on Crooklets Road and Summerleaze Car Park in Bude without due care and attention.

It was alleged that the defendant accelerated the vehicle and lifted the front wheel approximately two to three feet off the ground for around one to two seconds.

The front wheel then came back down and the front suspension forks were seen to compress under a heavy load as the front wheel impacted with the road. The court heard that the vehicle then accelerated at excess speed on down the road.

Mr Gliddon was subsequently spoken to by a police officer when the offence was pointed out and the defendant was told that the facts would be reported.

A guilty plea was indicated.

Mr Gliddon was fined £135 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and Devon and Cornwall Constabulary costs of £60. In addition, his driving licence was endorsed with three points.

Magistrates said the defendant's guilty plea was taken into account when the sentence was imposed.
