THE Bude branch of Sainsbury's went the extra mile in their fundraising for Sport Relief, raising over £2,921. This figure comes after the retailer announced a fundraising total of more than £6.5-million. Customers and colleagues rallied behind Sainsbury's Bude fundraising activities for this year's event, which included abseiling, raffles, rowing machine and cycling challenges as well as leg and chest waxing. Staff also collected customer donations during a colleague flash-mob performance of Black Lace's '70s dance number Superman. It was part of a nationwide flash mob across all Sainsbury's stores to help generate further funds for the charity. PETER Allen, Bude Sainsbury’s store manager, and Lesley Blake-Bertram, PR ambassador, visited Trelana Nursing Home in Bude recently to present a £100 community grant. The money will be used to develop a patio area for the residents. Hot cross buns were also handed out for an Easter treat. Lesley and Peter are pictured with staff and residents Menna Blake-Bertram, Emma Tozer, Nina Mason, Jan Dickerson, Sylvia Turner and Amy Brooks.
