Sainsburys' charity of the year is Bude Surf Life Saving Club. Sainsburys staff are very proud of the chosen charity, "they make a positive difference in the community by teaching our family and children respect for the environment by protecting our beaches and the people who use them. They teach life saving skills which will be with them for the rest of their lives." PR ambassador Mary Kerslake said: "Bude SLSC is an integral part of the community. We all love our beaches and want to feel safe with the Bude SLSC. Fundraising throughout the year, we also have collection boxes at each checkout in our Bude store. Two of our store members are participating in Bude SLSC Christmas Day swim to continue with our fundraising events."
