AROUND 90 members of the local branch of the University of the Third Age (U3A) have celebrated its 25th anniversary.
Back in April 1990, the first committee meetings were held at Lydney Library and there were special interest groups such as archaeology, swimming and painting.
Chairperson Enid Peregreen said: "We are still going strong a quarter of a century later, with specialist speakers at most monthly meetings, and just under 200 members attending more than 20 individual interest groups. It is definitely a cause for celebration!"
