THE St Piran’s Day pilgrimage was another great success, as once again both Tintagel and Delabole schools visited St Piran’s Chapel last Friday.
The weather held out as all children took part in the annual walk from Halgabron Crossroads, across the fields and through the woods to Trethevy and St Pirans’s Chapel.
This year the children had the added twist of following a poetry trail written on stones, which they used to write a poem about their pilgrimage when they returned to school.
The Rev Parsons spoke about the history of St Piran and Cornish heritage.
All children had the opportunity to look inside the chapel, which is said to have been founded by St Piran.
On returning to school, children enjoyed a pasty lunch and were joined by parents and grandparents.
The schools expressed thanks to the cooks and to everyone who made it possible.
