THE flag of St Piran was carried from Bude Surf Life Saving Club across the cliffs and over the beach at Bude, last Sunday (March 3) followed by a large crowd that had travelled for the event.

The walk was first organised in the late 1990s with a small group of walkers, and has gained in popularity every year since.

The event celebrates St Piran, the patron saint of tin miners, who is often celebrated in Cornwall. Legend has it, he was born in Ireland in the sixth century and as he grew, he became the holder of miraculous powers.
