THE Camelford Branch of St John Ambulance is calling for new members after number of departures have left them with only two volunteers remaining. A spokesperson for the group said: "What would you do if a loved one collapses, a child is choking or a friend needs your help? Every year 150,000 people die whose lives could have been saved if they had received effective, safe and prompt first aid. From the age of five-years-old you can join St John Ambulance and learn how to save someone's life. Being a member gains you both knowledge and qualifications. Within Camelford Division, we have both cadet (10 to 18-years-old) and adult (18-plus) members and volunteer at various local events, including Camelford Show, Royal Cornwall Show and Party on the Pitch. Cadets can also attend county camp and county quiz, and recently two local cadets attended a reception hosted by The Princess Royal at Buckingham Palace. All members learn how to make a difference; you can too." Visit your local division to find out more or contact Sandra Phillips on 01840 212300 to find out more about the Camelford branch.
