THERE was something for everyone at St Breward Carnival week — and what a week it was.
From Songs of Praise to Johnny Cowling, by way of a buffet lunch in the church, 'soup and sweet' in the chapel, and a cake sale at the school, as well as a 'wine and wisdom' quiz to tax people's brains and family bingo to make sure they knew their numbers.
The sun shone for Carnival Day, where the procession was led by St Breward's Silver Band and members from the North Cornwall Hunt. The Bideford Youth Pipe Band, always a great favourite at St Breward Carnivals, marched through the village and still had enough puff left to play outside the carnival marquee.
Carnival Royalty from Sticker, Tintagel and Wadebridge were welcomed and the number of walkers and very strange wheeled entries was greatly up from previous years. Mr Showers the Clown entertained the crowds at Row and on the carnival site.
The carnival procession travelled through the village from Rylands and up to the marquee at the football club, where the presentations were made by carnival president Trevor Ternouth — helped by the St Breward Royalty. During the evening, local group 'Rickety Bones' played in the marquee.
