Holsworthy Hamlets Parish Council at their last meeting were accompanied by the new Parish Clerk Miranda Howrihane.
Chairman Ken Carroll thought it an appropriate time to remind those in the parish of the services and help on offer, he said:
"Most people see us as Chilsworthy and Staddon Road, however the Hamlets is a very large area and surrounds Holsworthy on three sides. We extend to the edge of Sutcombe, Holsworthy Beacon and Hollacombe. We also cover Winterland Lane and Chasty to the south and come down Whimble Hill as far as the bus shelter. We have tried to find alternative venues to hold our meetings but so far have been unsuccessful. If anyone has any suggestions please let us know.
"In the parish we have about 800 on the electoral role so with children we must have at least 1,000 parishioners. The council would like to invite those from the outlying areas to attend the public session provided before each meeting, raising any issues they may have. Via the precept, money is raised each year to spend on the parish, so if your area has any specific needs please contact Miranda Howrihane, Parish Clerk on (01409) 241060. A new social housing survey is due to be held shortly so if you have any needs please let us know."
"The parish at the moment are trying to get Devon County Council Highways to come and repair our roads, which are pothole ridden throughout the area. They also maintain about two miles of public footpaths in association with Devon County Council."
"We are also trying to set up a parish website and I am optimistic it will be up and running in the next three to four months. We will report on this in our news report in the Holsworthy Post in the 'Around Holsworthy' section of the paper."
"Please feel free to contact any of your councillors, we would love to hear from you."
Recently the minutes book from 1900 to 1965 has been discovered and will be loaned to the Holsworthy Museum to go on public display.
