CONCERNS have been raised about the speed that motorists have been travelling through parts of Holsworthy.
At the Holsworthy Town Council meeting (June 2), Cllr Martin Heslip explained to Sgt Pennie Channing that he was concerned about the speed of traffic going out of Holsworthy, past Pins Park, as he believed many motorists were doing over 30mph.
Sgt Channing explained that speed detection work had been done in that area and the police had been issuing tickets. She said that this was especially a concern after school when "youngsters were
coming down the roads."
Other areas in the town that were top of the list of priorities for speeding included North Road, Whimble Hill and Staddon Road.
Deputy Mayor, Richard Kennedy, who chaired the meeting in the absence of Mayor Richard Brown, believed that from a previous traffic survey, 80 per cent of traffic on the Bude road were doing over 35mph and the highest recording was 65mph.
