LAST winter Holsworthy signed up for Devon County Council's voluntary scheme when it was launched last winter and acquired its own push-along salt spreader.

Now, with winter setting in, the council is looking for additional volunteer snow wardens to help spread salt and clear snow from smaller roads and pavements which are not treated by gritter lorries.

Holsworthy Town Clerk, Lisa Bowman, said: "The snow warden scheme is an additional resource on top of the winter service provided by Devon County Council."
