ST BREWARD Silver Band enjoyed caroling in the run-up to Christmas, under the leadership of recently appointed musical director, Tom Howard.
Mr Howard, who took on the role in September, lives in Wadebridge. He is currently a playing member with the St Austell band, a tutor with the Cornwall Youth Brass Band and has recently taken up a new career, working with the Cornwall Music Service.
He said he has enjoyed the few outings he has had with the band since his appointment — his first official engagement with the band was at St Breward Church on Remembrance Sunday.
Additional members to the senior band are sought.
The senior band rehearses on Monday evenings only from 7.30 to 9.30pm in the Band Room in the centre of the village.
The band is very keen to get back to having a full team so that it can maintain its 117-year history.
This band also has a junior band, which also rehearses on Monday evenings from 6pm to 7pm but would like to have additional members join.
They supply free tuition and the free loan of an instrument or percussion — you supply the enthusiasm.
