THE sheep entries were back on top form this year with a strong entry across all categories.
There was a plethora of sheep breeds on show including Charollais, Roussins, Border Leicesters and Zwartbles, but the cream of the crop was a Texel sheep, owned by William Braund from Whitstone, which received the sought after Supreme Champion sash.
William said he was ‘pretty pleased’ with how the day had gone against some tough competition.
“This is my second year at Camelford Show. Last year was a complete wash out so I thought I would come back this year and give it another go — really surprised to have got Supreme Champion.
“It is a really good show with good competition, there were about seven or eight in our class so competition was tough, but I think the judges did a really good job.”
Young Bella Martyn-Uglow from Boyton was pleased with her rosette ‘haul’ — especially as that is her favourite thing about showing her sheep.
At just four-years-old Bella is a very impressive sheep handler and can pick her own sheep, a Border Leicester, out from the family flock.
Bella said: “His name is Rupert. I like showing because I like getting rosettes.”
And after all, that is what it is all about. Bella received a 1st place rosette in the seven and under category and reserve champion in the 12 and under class, to name a few.
Bella said she was very happy to have won and was pleased with how many rosettes she had been given.
