A MOBILE service put into place to replace a recently closed post office in Shebbear ran into difficulties in its second week in operation, due to a technical fault.

The outreach van service began in Shebbear on Tuesday, January 6, after the village branch closed last week. The fault which occurred on Monday meant that the van could not process card payments or give people their pensions.

The Post Office said it had apologised to customers and added that the fault had been resolved.

In a statement, the Post Office said: "The mobile post office had been working well since it was introduced last week. Unfortunately we suffered some technical difficulties which have now been resolved. We would like to apologise to customers for the inconvenience."
