BUDE resident, Elliot Forte, is launching his second business book, Game Change, an entrepreneur’s manual, co-written with his business partner Jonathan Sharpe, who also attended school in Bude.
In 2015, Business Think created a series of entrepreneur workshops as part of the EU Open Innovation Pilot. The 48 business owners that attended these events reported an immediate 80% increase in ability to be innovative and enterprising. The book is a codification of the material delivered in these workshops.
Elliot said: “We decided to write this book after discovering that the business survival rate has been in steady decline for over 20 years. Over half of the people starting businesses will fail within five trading years. We wrote the book in Bude. However, it turned out to be a truly international project, working with Kathleen Maher, Executive Director at the P.T. Barnum Museum in Bridgeport, USA and the North American company, Laughing Stock, to license images created by the late Canadian cartoonist, Jim Unger. We are proud to say that the book includes a number of cartoons of his character Herman.”
Elliot and Jonathan are donating the net proceeds of all book sales to the Prince’s Trust, the charity for young people trying to get into employment and start a business.
A review on Amazon said: “A real game changer. Reminds seasoned entrepreneurs of the business fundamentals that are too easy to lose sight of, while being an excellent primer for someone approaching their first business. Romps through a vast number of ideas and concepts. An excellent and enjoyable read — highly recommended.”
This month an enterprise training programme has been launched by Business Think, based on the Game Change material.
