A LONG tradition of holding a sea service blessing of Port Isaac RNLI Crew and Lifeboat saw the Village Chorale and St Minver Silver Band gather together with the crew, lifeboat and committee on the harbour Platt on a perfect summer day.

The evocative scene attracted a record number of visitors and locals.

After a warm welcome by chairman Bob Bulgin, the service was taken by the Rev Judith Pollinger and concluded with two generous donations to Port Isaac RNLI — one of £1,000 was made by Christine Noble from Maidstone in Kent, in memory of her husband who was great supporter of the RNLI and a frequent visitor to the village.

The second of £1,275 was to the crew and committee by well known Doc Martin actor Ian McNiece, 'Bert Large' in the popular series currently filming in the village. Ian has proved to be a highly regarded supporter of local events and a generous fundraiser.
