CAMELFORD 1st Scouts recently joined forces with local officers to tackle rubbish in the town on a successful litter-pick.

The aim of the litter-pick was to promote young people engaging with community activities within Camelford to bring about a positive change.

It was carried out in conjunction with Clean Cornwall, which provided the equipment free of charge.

PCSO Chris Krolik said: “It has been a big privilege to work with the Camelford 1st Scouts to tidy an area of Camelford that is frequently used by young people. My hope is that by tidying the area young people will take pride in their skate park and scout hut and work together to keep it in good condition and also spread the word that it is important to keep Camelford tidy.

“I hope that this is one of many activities in the not too distant future that young people can enjoy engaging with and take pride in what they do. I definitely witnessed a great positive community spirit, despite the not so dry weather and fading light levels. Thanks also to parents and scout leaders that supported the event; they and the scouts take full credit for the outcome.”
