Pupils at Lamphey Primary School have been busy fundraising to support Harry Owen in his quest for selection for the Olympic Gymnastics Team. Pupils and staff were visited by Harry on Friday, May 15, when he talked passionately about his sport, diet and training.
Harry, who lives near Pembroke, started his gymnastics career at Orielton School and was then talent spotted while attending Milford Haven Gymnastics Club. He has been a member of the Welsh Senior Gymnastics Team since the age of 17, and has recently returned from the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow where the Welsh team was placed fifth overall.
Harry, who is currently placed ninth in Britain, is hoping to be selected for Rio 2016.
Headteacher, Mr. Thomas, commented: "It was a pleasure meeting Harry, and it is clear that he has great passion for the sport. We all wish Harry the best for the future, and fingers crossed for Rio!"
