SEVENTEEN Santas ran along every single road in Camelford on Saturday, December 9, spreading some Christmas cheer.

The event was organised and undertaken by the Camelford Up and Running group who were delighted to complete a total of 12 miles on the day.

Matt Allan, of Camelford Up and Running, said: “We gave candy canes to children we met and had refreshments of all-sorts from friends and supporters on route.

“We had a lot of fun and brought smiles to so many families.”

Friend, and well respected local man Darren Milner has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and is currently in a hospice.

In response, family member Gemma Hartwell set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to help Darren’s wife Sam afford to be by his side as much as possible.

Matt continued: “We at Camelford Up and Running thought we would raise what we could to help their heart breaking situation. The 12.6 mile run consisted of a lot of walking and stopping.

“Our journey took nearly five hours including all stops. We had fun, but more importantly we raised over £400 for Darren’s Go Fund Me page.”

He added: “May we take this opportunity to thank our local community for their generous donations. May we also thank everyone who helped feed and hydrate the Santas and last but not least the Santas!

“Us Santas braved a terrible weather forecast for such a worthy cause. We did good. Thank you all involved!”
