INCREASED safety measures have been installed in Holsworthy's Stanhope Park following complaints from concerned residents.

The new play park equipment was officially opened last December and has since been enjoyed by children on a regular basis, but heavy rainfall in the past few weeks has prompted drainage issues.

Holworthy Town Council has received letters of concern from three Holsworthy residents about drainage and safety issues and some of these were highlighted at a meeting of the town council last week.

A council spokesperson said: "A concern early on in the design stage of the project was the potential drainage problems and additional funds were spent on this aspect as work progressed.

"Extra investment in grass matting was also approved for the areas that would receive a heavier pounding from the Holsworthy feet."
