THIS five-point victory lifted the All Blacks clear of the relegation zone but Barnes, who lay just below them in the table, were 'in the game' until the hour. At the interval the Blacks led 20-10 but this was narrowed to 20-17 soon after the re-start and the All Blacks only began to pull away in the 61st minute.
The Polson faithful were pleased to see the re-appearance, on loan from the Cornish Pirates, of Ryan Westren on the wing, who didn't let them down!
However, he was almost over-shadowed by lock Ben Hilton who not only bagged two tries but was always in key positions defensively and in attack and on one occasion towards the end of the game he stopped what looked a certain Barnes try with a turn-over on his own line. He deserved his man of the match award.
The All Blacks can also thank Kieron Lewitt for keeping the score ticking over. The full-back converted four of his side's five tries and added two first half penalties.
