The Ruby Art Expo, held in Holsworthy Memorial Hall on February 21 and 22, was a great success with around 500 visitors admiring the art work on display.
Here, local artist and Ruby Country inhabitant, Paul Wright, gives his thoughts on the exhibition:
"From an artist's point of view the Ruby Art Exhibition 2009 and Ruby Art Award, which took place on February 21 and 22 in Holsworthy Memorial Hall, was an incredible success, an event where both art makers and collectors were able to meet and discover the amazing creative talent that Ruby Country holds dear.
"Showcasing a broad spectrum of artistic disciplines, with pieces of work from six inches to six feet in size and visitors from age five to an incredible 101, yes 101. A visitor to the exhibition was so impressed with the caliber of work he returned the next day with his elderly mother Mrs Ellie Reeves, as he did not wish her to miss such a stunning array of fine work, and right on their doorstep.
"The event exceeded all expectation with around 50 artists showcasing creative work of the very highest of standards, and the vast majority living and working in Ruby Country.
"Over two days and a private view evening, approximately 500 visitors passed through the doors and had continual praise for the exceptional standard of both the show and its content.
"The Ruby Country Initiative is very near the end of its funding and needs support from you. As a volunteer throughout the whole event, the exhibition was put on in a very short space of time and the result is sheer proof of what Ruby inhabitants can organise and produce in both high quality and quantity... a force which can only go from strength to strength with increased local help and support.
"Contact the Ruby Country and your local council and help us to be proud of what we have."
