THIS year’s Camelford Carnival royalty were crowned on Friday, October 18 at Clease Hall by Peggy Ellison.

Despite the wet, windy weather around 50 people came along to see the crowning and a concert provided by the Camelford Town Band under their musical director, Gareth Stubberfield.

The concert programme by the band went down a treat with the crowd, providing great entertainment with many songs from popular shows. The concert opened with ‘All That Jazz’, followed by ‘I will Follow Him’ and Mark Baker, solo cornet player, gave a great rendition of ‘Love Changes Everything’ with the band getting the crowd in full song to close the evening with the traditional Cornish song ‘Trelawny’.

The compare for the evening was David Goodman.

This year’s carnival royalty are Daisy Pooley, fairy queen, and attendants Florence Homans, Bella Taylor and Penny Morris.

Marney Baker, carnival secretary, said she was very pleased with how the evening went and was looking forward to the grand carnival procession this Saturday, October 26, which commences at 7pm. Fingers crossed for a dry evening!
