FIVE officers of Launceston Agricultural Show attended, on Tuesday, May 22, a Royal Garden Party in the grounds of Buckingham Palace.

The event was in celebration of HRH The Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall’s forthcoming 70th birthday and to recognise his royal patronages, military affiliations and charities. The Prince of Wales was the Launceston Show president in its centenary year, 1987, so it was fitting that members of the show’s committee attended the event.

Chairman Robert Tucker, show yard director Julian Stanbury, vice chairman Mike King, treasurer Peter Stevenson and Leslie Vanstone, who is the immediate past president and was show secretary for 20 years, took part in a group photograph with Prince Charles and representatives from his other associations.

The officers and other helpers are now busy preparing for this year’s forthcoming show on Thursday, July 26, being held at the Kennards House show site.
