YOUNG carers from Holsworthy and surrounding areas can continue to access their after-school club thanks to continued support from Holsworthy Rotary Club.
The monthly sessions, held at Holsworthy Youth Centre, are run by Carewise, an organisation based in Bideford and offering support to young carers living in Torridge and Northern Devon.
The sessions offer the young people respite from their caring role, chances to make friends and socialise with other young carers and opportunities to chat to support workers about any issues they have.
The president of Holsworthy Rotary Club, Cedrick Cook, and Rotarians John Westaway and Mrs Margaret Benjafield visited the group to chat with them and joined in with some of the activities on offer.
On presenting the cheque for £300 Mr Cook added that his organisation was ‘pleased to offer continued support to the young carers’.
Young carer support worker Jim Harvey, who leads the sessions along with volunteer Christine Stalley, said: “I would like to thank the Rotarians for their continued support allowing Carewise to offer a crucial respite service for local young carers many of whom are rurally isolated.”
