A GROUP formed to restore medieval glass in its village church has been successful in securing funding from Launceston’s Rotary Community Shop.
The Friends of Laneast Church approached the Rotary Community Shop for funding assistance. The group was formed to restore the medieval glass, which was damaged by a storm some time ago.
However, the current need for help is to fund the money necessary to replace unfit and unhealthy spring water with mains water to be used in the many events held in the village.
The village does not have a pub, shop or community hall and so the church and church room is used for all the community’s social events.
Vicky Williams leads the ‘Friends’ management team and she expressed her thanks to the Rotary Shop for its generous donation.
The group provided a buffet enjoyed by the local Friends accompanied by Archdeacon Audrey Elkington, Vicar Deryn Roberts and, of course, Vicky Williams.
The cheque for £500 was presented to the Rev Deryn Roberts by Rotarian Barrie Boundy.
