A GROUP that has brought major films to the town hall for public viewing has benefitted from a donation of £1,000 from Launceston’s Rotary Community Shop.
The Rotary Community Shop received an application from FLIC (Films Launceston in the Community) for a donation to help them purchase a new commercial projector for use in the town hall.
A Rotary spokesperson said: “After various meetings and discussions it was clear that this was a project that Rotary should support and a donation of £1,000 was approved.
“The last commercial cinema in Launceston was in 1983 and FLIC has opened new doors in the town hall with a dedicated team of volunteers.”
Prices for major films go up to £5 and they can accommodate as many as 300 cinema-goers if necessary.
They also organise special viewings for people with learning difficulties.
Past Rotary president Dennis Howson is pictured with the committee of FLIC and presenting the £1,000 cheque to FLIC treasurer Teresa Knight.
