Dear Editor, On behalf of the Ross and District Christian Aid Committee, may we pass on to your readers our heartfelt thanks for the generous response that local people made in Christian Aid Week, May 10th-16th.
The gratifying sum of £8969.17 was raised through the house to house collection and some special church events.
This surpasses the total raised in 2014 by £1500. Over 300 donations, totalling £3750, were gift-aided, adding significantly to the total.
Most of all, we thank the local collectors for their hard work, and the churches and the Ross Gazette who helped to promote Christian Aid Week. This year's response reflects the deep concern that people have shown for the disaster victims in Nepal.
We are indebted to Lucas Motorcycles, and GD Parker & Co for allowing envelopes to be dropped off.
The house to house collection included Ross Town, Bridstow and Wilton, Brampton Abbotts, Peterstow, Walford, Linton, St Weonards, Aston Ingham and Upton Bishop.
Glyn and Sheila Jenkins, Ross-on-Wye
