POET and publisher Ronnie Goodyer, from Halwill, has won The Poetry Kit Spring Competition and received a three figure sum.
The Poetry Kit is the world’s leading poetry information site and this was an international competition.
Ronnie won first prize with his poem ‘The Light Fandango’ and was also commended for a second poem ‘My Moon in Cancer’.
Speaking about his win, Ronnie said: “I’m really delighted with this. I gather there were hundreds of entries so to win and have another poem commended is very special.”
He added: “The prize money in my bank account is great too — Dawn knows it’s there, so meals out or a short holiday may be happening soon!”
Jim Bennett, who runs the site said: “This was a well deserved win. As the competition is judged blind it was a lovely surprise to see that it was Ronnie’s poem, and a second poem of his in the commended poems. A great result.”
Ronnie runs Indigo Dreams Publishing with partner Dawn and they are now working on a new joint collection to be launched at the opening of Cheltenham Poetry Festival, 2020.
