A MAN has been passing through various towns and villages in the Post area during his charity pilgrimage from Morwenstow to Lands End, in aid of Cornwall Hospice Care.
Robin Moore is embarking on the Cornish Pilgrimage, which started last week, in honour of his friend Clive’s stepdaughter Zoey who sadly died from cancer last year at the age of 38. Clive will take part in a section of the walk, joining Robin at Padstow for the Saints Way.
Having discussed the event with fundraising executive Sarah Newton, Clive, who is grateful for the care and support given to Zoey by St Julia’s Hospice, now hopes the pair’s efforts will go some way to providing help to others that need it.
Written diaries recording spring expeditions will be published on Robin’s website and YouTube page, while photos and video diaries will be uploaded on the Facebook page ‘Robin Moore’s Walking for Charity Page’.
Robin will be walking the 200-mile Cornish Pilgrimage, from Morwenstow to St Michael’s Mount during April and May for Cornwall Hospice Care. The itinerary includes an invitation to the public to join on a Bank Holiday Saturday walk around Gwennap Region, which is nine miles. Entertainment is also scheduled at local inns throughout the weekend.
On May 4, Cornish folk band Black-eyed Nancy will play an eclectic array of music at St Day Inn from 9pm. It is hoped a raffle draw will also be held. On May 5, the Gwennap Pilgrimage walk commences from 4pm, followed by live music at the Coppice Inn around 8pm that evening. The following Sunday, a local motorcycle Raleigh and charity raffle will be held at the Coppice Inn, and on the bank holiday Monday the pilgrimage will continue to St Ives via the Cornish Way and St Michael’s Way, with volunteers welcome to come along.
The route will take in Launceston, the Saints Way and the Gwennap Pilgrimage over the bank holiday period. It will then continue to St Michael’s Mount.
