CORNWALL Wildlife Trust’s Bude Group welcomes Robert Durrant to its meeting on Monday, November 16 to give an illustrated talk on ‘Seashore Explorations’.

The meeting starts at 7.30pm at the Parkhouse Centre in Bude for a cost of £3, which will include coffee or tea.

Robert Durrant was born in Bideford and had a full career in teaching — mainly English — with his most exciting job being a headmaster in Zimbabwe, where he enjoyed many safaris and saw amazing wildlife, including elephants, crocodiles and hippos.

He retired to his home town and rediscovered his childhood fascination with rock pooling — a far cry from his safari days — and that’s where he will focus his talk.

Robert is aiming to raise awareness of the rich variety of marine creatures that can be found locally between the tides and to give an insight into the fascinating behaviour of some of them.
