THE roadworks that have been causing recent traffic delays in Launceston are set to continue until October 28, a meeting in the town heard recently.

Liberal Democrat Cornwall Councillor for Launceston South Jade Farrington told Launceston Town Council at its meeting on September 20 that South West Water is carrying out roadworks in the Stourscombe area of town, and gas works for the new housing estates are being carried out at the same time.

Traffic lights had been causing delays in the area. Cllr Farrington told the meeting: “They are manually controlling lights during peak periods.”

She said she had complained when work first started to Cornwall Council’s Streetworks team, as she said ‘no notification’ of the works had been put up.

Cornwall Council will be inspecting the site to ensure correct traffic management.

Cllr Farrington said anyone experiencing problems with the roadworks should contact Streetworks and South West Water.
