ORGANISERS of this year’s Rock Institute summer art exhibition, Jan Gisbourne and Henry Grattan, invited Port Isaac RNLI, for the second year running, to mount a special display of paintings, cards and artwork in support of the RNLI.

The exhibition was staged at the Rock Institute from July 28 to August 6.

On sale at the exhibition were copies of the recent publication ‘An Illustrated History of Port Isaac Lifeboats’, including a show copy of the specially hand bound presentation edition as made to His Royal Highness the Duke of Cornwall by the crew and committee of Port Isaac RNLI, on the occasion of his recent visit to Port Isaac village.

In addition to the stunning display of RNLI artworks, which included a framed copy of ‘Christmas Delivery’ by well known local artist Rosemary Grattan, dedicated to raise funds for the RNLI for which draw tickets were available, more than 100 impressive paintings by talented artists were on show.

These spanned a wide range of subjects from action packed sailing scenes leaping off the canvas to tranquil and evocative country and coastal scenes covering the great range of artistic skills on show at this unique and worthwhile event, attended to capacity by a record number of the art loving public.
