THE proposal from local schools in the Bude area to create a Co-operative Schools' Trust has been ringingly endorsed following a period of consultation with parents, teachers and local communities.

Six local primary schools together with Budehaven Community School held a series of meetings at the secondary on July 9 and received the Draft Report on the Consultation prepared by the Co-operative College.

Governors from the seven consulting schools were told by Sean Rogers from the Cooperative College: "Rarely have I had such an easy report to write. The support of the local community to the proposals put forward is emphatically endorsed."

All seven governing bodies voted to move towards Cooperative Trust status, and Bude Infant School, Bude Junior School, Budehaven Community School, Jacobstow Community Primary School, Kilkhampton Junior and Infant School, Stratton Primary School and Whitstone Community Primary School will form a Trust with effect from November 1.
