AFTER careful consideration the committee and organisers decided to err on the side of caution and like last year postpone Marhamchurch Revel 2021.
However, Marhamchurch Primary School as it did last year, maintained some of the traditions.
Sarah Short, who works at Marhamchurch Primary School (HLTA) and also helps with the organisation of Marhamchurch Revel, explained: “This included the voting in of the Revel Royalty and had their own revel celebration in school. The whole school was involved. Every child had the opportunity to vote for the queen, marshal and page. The Revel was discussed in classes, bunting and flags made. The school revel included a procession through the school grounds, the marshal blowing the revel bugle, all the children cheered, played musical instruments and waved their flags. For the ceremony Old Father Time’s speech was read out before the Revel Queen placed the crown on her head. The queen made a lovely speech to the children which was followed by another procession around the school field to the cheering crowd.
“All the children had a fantastic time and felt honoured to be part of Marhamchurch community’s special event.”
This year’s Royalty included: Revel Queen Ema, Maids Freya, Amelia, Kaitlin, Lana and Niamh, marshall Oliver, crown bearer Gabe and Rory as ‘Old Father Time’.
