LAUNCESTON Town Strategy Group's latest report regarding the traffic consultation exercise held in autumn last year was delivered at the town council's latest meeting, held on Tuesday, February 21.
Authorised by the town council at its September meeting, the exercise was held on the week commencing Monday, November 14.
Distribution of the survey comprised hand deliverance of leaflets and a questionnaire to each property — business and/or residential — in all of the streets in which alterations were proposed, as well as those in adjacent streets in which residents may potentially be affected.
With potential changes having a potentially large impact on taxi drivers in Launceston, they were treated as residents of the High Street.
This was followed by two successive days in which all of the proposals were displayed in the Guildhall, together with questionnaires seeking the views of all those who attend.
The group were assisted in their task by large maps of the relevant areas supplied to them by Cornwall Council's Highways Department and photographs produced by the town clerk.
The results of the entire exercise have now been collated, agreed by the strategy group and have been submitted to the town council with recommendations for further actions.
