FURTHER to your story on the front of last week's Review concerning Lydney Cemetery.

I sympathise with the people and wish council officials would be more thoughtful.

My nan and grandad are buried at Coleford Cemetery. Recently the headstone on the grave, which has been there since 1995, was removed and chucked behind a shed and now has a wheelie bin placed on it.

I appreciate rules and safety must be adhered to but I feel councils could be more sympathetic and respectful to the dead and their relatives.

The first we knew about the removal of the headstone was when my son went to put flowers on the grave at Christmas.

In this day and age of computers it only takes a few minutes to trace a family member and I think they should have contacted a family member and informed us of what they were proposing to do first.

Respect costs nothing but is worth everything.
