RESIDENTS of Pipers Pool are calling for an average speed camera to be installed in the village, as they continue their battle to reduce the speed of traffic.
They are up in arms as some motorists choose to ignore the restriction and overtake illegally, putting lives at risk. Despite the 30 mph limit, speeds as high as 80 mph have been logged and villagers say there have been a number of near misses.
The issue has been ongoing for over 30 years and residents feel it's because of increased traffic. A 40 mph limit was introduced in 1993, later the community managed to get it lowered to 30 mph and most recently, a radar sign was installed.
