THE official opening of '1914 and Beyond — the effect of the Great War on the parish of St Breward', took place at the Institute and War Memorial Hall last Friday.

The exhibition commemorates the centenary of the war and reflects on how it touched the lives of the moorland communities.

During the late morning a large crowd assembled outside the hall. Among those present were the mayor and mayoress of Wadebridge Tony and Sandra Rush, and the mayor of Camelford Andy Shaw, MP for North Cornwall Dan Rogerson, and members of the Royal British Legion, including a 'hairy bikers' contingent, and the DCLI parading in full regalia and carrying standards.
