FOLLOWING the fundraising efforts of residents in Lifton over the past seven months, a black Labrador is undertaking special training to become a medical detection dog.
Nine-month-old Lifton is having his name sponsored by the village, which has so far raised around £1,000.
Lifton, the dog, has recently graduated from puppy training, which included walking off-lead in a controlled manner, recalling past people, informal retrieving and more.
Lifton has shown great promise for the charity's work and will now undergo formal medical detection training, which can take six to nine months. Once complete, Lifton will be assigned to someone who needs his help.
