CHILDREN were in for a treat as their school was transformed into a winter wonderland.

Jacobstow Community Academy was a hub of festive excitement recently as Father Christmas made a special appearance during the school’s Christmas Stay and Play session, drawing families from across the local area.

Parents, carers, and children were welcomed into the school’s Early Years setting for an afternoon of seasonal activities. Young visitors took part in Christmas crafts, enjoyed festive music, and explored the school’s well-loved outdoor environment. The school’s PSFA, decked out in full elf attire, provided refreshments and added to the lively Christmas atmosphere.

However, the highlight for many was Father Christmas’ outdoor grotto — an enchanting transformation of the school’s reading cabin. For many children, it was their first time meeting the big man, and their reactions ranged from wide-eyed wonder to pure delight, with each child leaving with a gift.

Once the Stay and Play session concluded, Father Christmas continued his tour of the school. Visiting Cherry Class, where he shared jokes, and listened to the children’s Christmas wishes before joining the children as Mrs Jones read a Christmas story.

Ahead of his busy schedule, Mr Clause’s final stop was Willow Class, where he spoke with pupils about their hopes for Christmas and encouraged them to stay on their best behaviour. Before departing, he offered a heartfelt Christmas greeting to the entire school community.

The school’s head teacher, Michelle Jones described the afternoon as ‘magical’ and praising the occasion for helping creating memories that students will ‘treasure forever’.

She said: “It was a privilege to welcome the local community into our wonderful school. Christmas is such a special time, and we want to create memories that children and their families will treasure forever.”
