A PROPOSAL to increase a speed limit area on a road leading into Launceston is unnecessary, according to a resident of the town.
Cornwall Council is inviting comments on plans to extend an area by approximately 40 yards, which is restricted by 30mph on Hurdon Road and replace the current road signs with new ones.
Bob Ball of Penworth Close, Launceston, is a regular walker of the road and feels there is no speed issue.
"There isn't a vast amount of cars which use the road," he said. "Generally, 95 per cent of the traffic aren't doing 30mph when they get here, they're doing less."
The road, which leads into the town from the Trebullett area, is mainly used by lorries and farm vehicles who access nearby farms, explained Mr Ball.
"Five times a week I use this route and speed is not an issue. Nothing needs changing."
If there was a need to move the signs due to a housing development, this would be understandable, believes Mr Ball.
