THE Headland was famous for being Bude's popular nightclub for many decades until its closure in 2007. Over the years the venue had several different owners and a few different identities, but one thing was common — it was always a great night out with top DJs and music. What was born out of a casual mention and subsequent chat on a Nostalgia Bude Facebook page earlier this year looks likely to be one of the most talked about local social events for a while. Gary Provan, a former Bude lad and DJ at The Headland, immediately jumped on the idea of some sort of reunion. But living in Essex has its drawbacks when trying to arrange an event in Bude.?So he enlisted the help of established Bude man Paul Martin, along with Amanda Davis, who recently relocated back to Bude. This was to be the three-strong Headland Reunion Team and their job was simply to find a venue, a date, some of the original Headland DJs, create the event and tell everyone about it. All 225 tickets were sold a few weeks before the event and with enquiries continuing right up to the evening itself the event could have sold out at least two or three times over. It took place on Saturday, September 6 at The Bullers Arms, Marhamchurch. For the full report, and a round-up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
