MEMBERS of the community in Launceston gathered in the St John Ambulance Hall on Monday, February 4 to air concerns for the Launceston division to the new regional director.
Recently, St John Ambulance informed its members that it would be changing management from county to regional. This regionalisation angered local communities, but the regional director attempted to explain that it was to help nationwide problems of finance and to make "the front line" easier for volunteers.
Divisional Superintendent for Launceston Barry Gibson invited Steven Hargreaves, the new regional director for St John South-West, to a meeting. As the division has always been in "the heart of the community" many members of the public attended, including Launceston Mayor, Cllr Rob Tremain.
