Martin Colwill of Red Post, was one of 45 drivers who, on October 1, took part in a fundraising track day at Snetterton Race Circuit in Norfolk.

This was Martin's third charity track day driving his 20-year-old BMW 325i. Earlier this year he took part in two events at Llandow circuit near Cardiff — each of these raised over £2,000.

The Snetterton days are organised by Gigawave of Colchester. They are not race days but an opportunity for drivers to take their own cars at speed on a motor circuit.

Consideration for other drivers is paramount, and overtaking is only by consent of the slower car, and always on the straights.

Thanks to the generous discount provided by Jonathan Palmer of MSV Snetterton, drivers pay the usual commercial rate for a track day, have a great deal of time on track, and still raise a good sum for charity.

This was Gigawave's fifth event at Snetterton, and £5,300 was raised which will be shared between East Anglia's Children's Hospices and Combat Stress, the Ex-Services Mental Welfare Society.

The five days at Snetterton have raised over £21,000 for these two charities.
