A delegation of the local Royal Engineers Association met officers and members of the West Wales Maritime Heritage Society on Friday to present a cheque to the society for the sum of £2,000 to fund the proposals for a visitor centre in Front Street, Pembroke Dock, once the site of Hancock's shipyard. The West Wales Maritime Heritage Society would like to thank the local branch of the Royal Engineers Association for having the confidence in their ability and aims to support them so generously. They shall do their best to see that their trust and help will be used to help build the town into more of a tourist centre, working in conjunction with the Dockyard Chapel and eventually the Gun Tower, along the road. They do not plan to compete with them, but to do something very different. Their work will be with boats that will attend events along the Haven, thus someone seeing the other sites will see something very different at the yard.
