A?REVOLT by ratepayers at Bude has seen a projected 49 per cent rise in the precept slashed drastically down to 4.7 per cent. The move against the proposed increase — which one lady said even the bank of England would not dare to impose — came following a report in the Bude & Stratton Post. The original budget proposed by the finance committee was £783,448 or a 49 per cent rise for the 2008/2009 financial year. But, this was overturned by the full meeting of Bude/Stratton Town Council at a crowded meeting in the conference room at the Parkhouse Centre on Thursday evening, and replaced by a precept of £551,448, an increase of £24,657 or approximately 4.7 per cent on the current year.
