THE topic of queuing in Bude’s car parks during the summer was one of the hot topics for the Bude-Stratton Town Council to discuss at their full council meeting on October 6.
Cllr Bob Willingham told the council that the situation of the town’s car parks are ‘absolutely appalling’ in the summer, with people queuing in the car parks to use the ticket machines.
He said: “It’s absolutely appalling in the summer when people are coming into the town to queue in the car parks, putting their registration numbers into the machines. I think we need to write to Cornwall Council to say the machines are not fit for purpose, and reduce the frustration of visitors trying to come into the town.”
Cllr Alan Biggs said: “The whole town is busy all year. If we don’t sort this out, tourism — which is a big part of our economy — will suffer.”
Cllr Julia Bryson added that the letters on the ticket machine, where people type their registration numbers, are too small, and that people cannot see them.
The council decided to put this in a letter to Cornwall Council, highlighting the problems and to ask for action to be taken.
